American Airlines to Begin Nonstop Service Between Miami and Liberia, Costa Rica

MIAMI, Sept. 29, 2003 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines will begin nonstop service between Miami International Airport and Liberia, Costa Rica, on Jan. 31, 2004. The flights will operate three times per week. The airline will serve the route with 142-seat Boeing 737-800s.

"As part of our continued commitment to Latin America, we will begin service to Liberia, our newest destination. This is part of our ongoing effort to enhance service to the region," said Peter Dolara, American's senior vice president - Miami, the Caribbean and Latin America. "Liberia, on Costa Rica's Pacific coast, is conveniently located to many of the area's tourist destinations."

Currently, American serves San Jose, Costa Rica, with three daily flights from Miami, and one daily flight from Dallas/Fort Worth. A second flight from Dallas/Fort Worth will begin three times a week on Nov. 1, and will increase to six times a week on Dec. 15. Service from New York Kennedy begins Dec. 15 with four flights per week.

American serves 25 cities in Central and South America. American and its regional affiliate, American Eagle, operate more than 260 daily flights from Miami to more than 80 destinations, including 43 points in the Caribbean and Latin America.
